Volunteers
Yamhill County Sheriff's Office is fortunate to have a dedicated cadre of individuals who volunteer their time, energy, and expertise in service to the agency and the County. For the period of October 2023 – September 2024, volunteers donated a total of 23,038 hours. That is the equivalent of a little more than 11 full-time positions and an estimated value of $800,305.

Patrol Reserve Volunteers
This program is for those volunteers who are over the age of 21 and interested in receiving extensive training in law enforcement. This is often used as a stepping-stone toward being a sworn deputy and requires a separate application as noted in the Yamhill County Sheriff's Programs page.
Administrative Volunteers
A program where volunteers assist within the administration of the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, working directly with Support Services personnel. Opportunities include:

Amateur Radio Emergency Services
A program that provides amateur radio emergency services to the community. Visit the Amateur Radio website. Opportunities include:

Cadets
A program for youth interested in learning more about or having a career in law enforcement. Program includes academic learning opportunities with limited field application. Visit the Facebook page. Opportunities include:

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community. Mounted Posse
This program utilizes equestrian riders to assist in the field. Visit the Mounted Posse Volunteers Facebook. Opportunities include:

Search and Rescue
This program provides search and rescue training for activities within the county and state. Visit the Yamhill County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team website.

Volunteer Response Unit
A program where volunteers receive patrol and response training for active use in the field. Opportunities include:

- Training/Academy
